On Tuesday 8 August, our CCO Queen Anne Insiders, Becky and Clarissa, attended an exclusive event at The Green Room at The Wigmore in London, where Cunard’s new and exclusive partnership with two Michelin-starred chef, Michel Roux was revealed!  

Michel will be working alongside Cunard’s talented culinary development chefs to create a new menu for the Golden Lion pub, and an exclusive gala menu for Queen Anne’s Queens Grill restaurant.  

Members of the media and Cunard’s Senior Leadership Team were also in attendance, to hear from Michel Roux in person, on the inspiration behind the menu, and sample some of the signature plates he created for The Wigmore – a taste of things to come for Queen Anne and the Golden Lion Pub!

Guests were welcomed to the event with glasses of Laurent Perrier Champagne and platters of Michel’s signature XXL three-cheese and mustard toastie, pea and ticklemore cheese arancini and chips covered in Bloody Mary salt.

A welcome speech by Angus Struthers was followed by a Q&A between Michel Roux and Cunard’s VP of Brand & Product, Lee Powell, which was compered by award-winning journalist, Karen Kay. 

Becky said:  

Wow, what a day we had at the event! The room was filled with food and wine experts, journalists, and representatives from some of our main travel agencies. It was great hearing Michel’s plans to use quality, sustainable, local and seasonal produce to create his destination inspired menus. If they are half as tasty as some of the dishes served at the event, then we are in for a treat! The scotch egg with masala was particularly amazing. 

Fun fact: Michel’s food heaven (comfort food) is Shepherd’s Pie, and his food hell is liquorice. Let’s see if either will appear on his menus!

Clarissa said:  

It was a fabulous event at The Wigmore – a very swanky establishment that almost depicts the same colour scheme as The Golden Lion on board Queen Anne!  We had the chance to sample some of Michel’s culinary delights, which gave us an idea of the amazing flavours that will be available to our guests on board Queen Anne when she sets sail next year. I can’t wait!
