To make sure we recognise our P&O Cruises colleagues onboard who SHINE the brightest, we have our SHINE Awards, to help us recognise and celebrate our people for living our Culture Essentials as well as our SHINE service promise.

SHINE helps us to think about how we deliver extraordinary service to our Guests, whilst Culture Essentials helps us think about how we treat one another. When we live by these behaviours, we’ll also be living up to our commitments to Health, Environment, Safety and Security (HESS).

A huge thank you to all those who nominated a colleague on board for an award last year. We’re excited to announce the overall winners of the year for 2022 who have both won £1,500 and will receive ‘Star for a day’ treatment!

Congratulations goes to…

Nephtali Ramos, Aurora – SHINE Award

Nephtali received 10 nominations from guests for his attentive, polite, helpful, friendly nature and exemplary service. One couple described Nephtali as an efficient and personable colleague and felt fortunate to have been assigned to his area for the rest of their holiday after he helped them to amend their dining options.

To support another guest in a cabin who had a severe allergy, Nephtali made sure that meals were served with care and checked with chefs before picking up each meal from the galley. He is very informative about the items on the menu and helps guests to make a choice, informs guests on mealtimes and any changes on the menu which is helpful. He is a credit to P&O Cruises, and a valuable asset to the company.

Sukrut Pujari, Arvia (on Britannia at time of nomination) – Culture Essentials Award

Sukrut is a great team player who deserves to be recognised! The Crew Office has received numerous comments from crew members to say thank you to Sukrut for his hard work. He always goes the extra mile to look after his colleagues. He has worked hard to resolve crew connectivity issues onboard, and is always willing to help another crew member outside his work hours if they are having issues with the kiosk.

He truly believes in our Culture Essentials, respecting & protecting others, and is always looking at how things can be improved. By helping others to have a good experience when working and living on board, Sukrut is also looking after their wellbeing and promotes a healthy, family atmosphere onboard Britannia. Thank you, Sukrut!

Living our HESS Commitments: Safe and Well

Our winners should also be recognised as HESS heroes! Nepthali, for following our HESS golden rules by looking out for others and ensuring our guest needs regarding allergies were met, and Sukrut, for following our HESS golden rules by looking out for others and ensuring the needs of our internal guests are met contributing to their health and wellbeing.
