From ship to shore, across the corporation we’re striving to be more sustainable and are continuously working hard to find solutions to help us achieve this. Food waste is just one of our focus areas.
This World Ocean’s Day (8 June) P&O Cruises invite you to share fresh ideas to help raise awareness of the serious issue of food waste. Share your suggestions as a song, poem, drawing, poster – the most creative entry will win!
Think about how you can encourage someone to waste less food? What does food waste mean to you, your family, our oceans and our planet? When producing your entry please remember
- Stay safe – don’t put yourself or anyone else at risk
- Be thoughtful to our guests and do not impact their experience on board
- Use your phone to video or take a photo – no fancy cameras needed
Prizes up for grabs include an Apple Watch, AirPods and an iPad.

Poem: Food Our Life
In the galley, a tale is told
Of food waste, a story old
Scraps and leftovers, discarded with ease
A habit harmful, a waste to please
But what of the food that’s still good to eat?
Thrown away, a waste to beat
Perfectly edible, yet tossed aside
A tragedy, that cannot be denied
Let’s consult all nationals, far and wide
To balance the menu, and reduce waste inside
From savory dishes to sweet delights
Let’s create a menu, that’s both tasty and right
Let’s hear from the chefs, from every land
To create a menu, that’s in demand
No more waste, no more excess
Just delicious meals, that everyone can bless
From the farm to the table, let’s make it clear
Food waste is a problem, that we must hold dear
Let’s reduce, reuse, and recycle with care
And make sure that food waste, is no longer there
For a sustainable future, we strive

my suggestion is that we should have an ordering machine onboard so that we know the menu that the crew and guests do not like, so that we can see what the most liked menu to be served is that it should be served and that the menu has the right recipe and flavor food sometimes there should be food served but the food is not cooked properly, lack of water and the recipe is wrong, I hope this way we can have zero food waste, I hope this will help, I suggest this, thank you
