Our overall individual winner
Ben Gaskin, Service Desk Advisor, Shared Services Respect & Protect, Improve, Communicate, Empower
“Ben has gone totally above and beyond to be available and help during the roll out of Office 365 and his calm manner, positive assistance and constructive advice for resolution of issues has been invaluable. Just knowing someone is there who will respond so effectively and seek a full and quick solution has made the whole experience much less tense. Knowing Ben has always ‘had my back’ in getting things working has been phenomenal – he’s really empowered us all. Huge thanks and appreciation.” Congratulations Ben!
Our overall team winner
CUK Vaccine Working Group Respect & Protect, Communicate
“As of 12 February, 100% of our colleagues on board all our ships are now fully vaccinated – we are the first in the Corporation to achieve this position. This is an outstanding milestone and has been incredibly challenging and complex to achieve. It will make a huge difference to the safety and wellbeing of our people, will support effective operations and will also give our guests the reassurance they are seeking to sail with us.
“Not resting on our laurels the vaccine working group is now focused on ensuring all eligible crew receive their booster. This has been a real team effort with incredible support from multiple teams and departments to achieve.”
Congratulations to the team: Ellie Alcock, Alexander Preston, Brian Cox, Peter Van de Pas, Sharon Rose, Schuyler Lewis, Samantha Law, Mark Wilson, Jo Milner, Kathryn Ramsdale, Molly Wotman, Adam McWilliams, Jason Milburn, Elizabeth Cooke, James Chalk, Louisa Murray, Lisa Draper, Samantha Cox, Laura Robey, Luke Mclennan, Katherine Rolls, Kathryn Westley, Graeme Pointer, Isaac Salt, Olivia Rovetto, Amanda Davey, Bonnie Rickman, Brookland Hughes, Eveline Izard, Jess Churchill, Lindsay Kennedy, Michelle Jepson, Ross Shadick-Coe, Victoria Botto, Audrey Hobby, Susan Farrugia, Jason Milburn, Katrina Flynn, Rona Feyerabend, Islay King, Heaven White, Matt Hall, Irena Miniaylenko, Harrison Cassidy, and of course all our medical teams and many more colleagues across the fleet.
“Amy was on ERO duty and managed the social media role for the entirety of the QM2 ERO over the Christmas period. I was so impressed with how Amy covered the role. She was methodical and gave fully prepared updates on all the social chatter happening across our social platforms and the closed user groups; she was comprehensive, ensuring that everything was being reported; guest centric and confident to Speak Up and raise concerns on the ERO calls - such as the sentiment and posts being made by those disembarked in NYC and making sure that these were being addressed; calm and tireless - which are not easy attributes when you've been going for well over a week and multiple group calls a day. She showed how social media is a valued tool to manage EROs, and is an exemplar for each of our Culture Essentials.”
“When Amy learned that I had recently joined the Digital/Social ERO team she offered to run me through what had happened on the recent QM2 ERO she was involved with. She recognised that it can be daunting to not know what to expect and wanted to empower me to go into the role with the right information and resources to give the best support that I could. She used her own experience, both of the training provided and a real life ERO to prepare me as best she could for any future EROs that I would be involved in. This extra preparation was much appreciated and has left me feeling empowered to start the role in March.”
“Rachael is a great support to the whole of Finance. Just one of the many things she does is manage the credit card support roster and, since seeing a decline in support offered due to RTS and day jobs getting busier, she always adds herself on the roster. She (along with a few other dedicated and very kind individuals) is super speedy in doing this vital piece of work to refund our guests quickly and help keep our brands strong in the marketplace. She’s clear in her communication and adapts to the change in situations, working through challenges calmly and with ease. It’s always a pleasure to work with her and we want her to know she is massively appreciated.”
“Rachael is a superb ambassador for Carnival UK. As a recent new starter, Rachael has been a great support to me in setting up meetings with new colleagues, supporting with IT requests and general support of who to speak to help settle in. Rachael is very clear with her communication, setting up meetings that are always diary sympathetic. Beyond this, Rachael has shown a lot of initiative to improve our ways of working, embracing Teams, setting up communication channels and recently introduced a shared calendar to the team which will prove very useful.”
“Charles has played a key role over the past 48 months in developing plans to support our fleet during what has been an ever-changing, ever-adapting backdrop. He’s been nominated for his leadership, the guidance and support he offers to not just his team but others within Maritime, ability to take the time to listen to colleagues and collaborate and to consistently support every piece of activity which has the interest of the vessel and her crew at heart.”
Congratulations Charles!
People Team: Beth Bonnell, Planning & Change Manager
Respect & Protect, Improve
“To help improve connectivity for our colleagues on board, a year ago we built a business case to instate Wi-Fi access points in crew cabins. Following a failed proof of concept, Beth has done an amazing job in relentlessly pursuing the delivery of the project, understanding the complexities, chasing IT for updates, working with finance to seek funding clarification, and escalating/clearly articulating challenges so that the right decisions can be made at the right time. She documented IT's plan so that it can be shared with ships and the first access points will be instated as soon as the technology equipment is available. This should make a fundamental difference to life on board and the welfare of our people, as well as the safety and effectiveness of our operations.”
Congratulations Beth!
P&O Cruises: James Anderson, Revenue Analyst
Communicate, Improve, Listen & Learn
“James has played a fundamental role in the procurement of flights for this year's Fly Mediterranean cruise programme. James has worked tirelessly to Speak Up and raise challenges with various plans and contribute ideas based on his analysis of the programme's performance.
He has demonstrated the Culture Essential of Communicate, providing several updates to stakeholders throughout the process of developing the various iterations of the sourcing plan. This has helped to maintain a strong progression and rhythm to the workstream to ensure all deadlines given by vendors have been met.
James has shown adaptability as the uncertainty of the market has resulted in several versions of the plan and he has articulated the impact of these changes and the comparisons to previous iterations clearly which has allowed all stakeholders to stay up to date. He has reached out for advice and support when required and has listened to the ideas of other stakeholders, learned from them, and implemented them into both the plan itself and the articulation of the plan. The success of the procurement of the flights for this programme is a fantastic example of how cross-collaboration across several teams has delivered extremely successful outcomes, and James has been paramount to this collaborative effort.”
Congratulations James!

She goes above and beyond in this role and has run quite a few sessions across the team recently. Thank you Sam.”

Our team departmental winners
Cunard: Jeriel Lubaton and Jamie Paiko
Speak Up, Listen & Learn, Improve, Communicate
“Jeriel and Jamie went above and beyond to manage the arrangements for guests who were isolating in New York in December and January following testing positive for Covid-19. They were liaising with the guests on a daily basis ensuring they were taken care of, supported and had a point of contact at all times. In doing so, this allowed the CUK CARE team to focus on the other guests in Europe. A great example of bringing our Culture Essentials behaviours to life.
Congratulations Jeriel and Jamie!

Working closely with Ethics & Compliance, they've worked quickly to respond to an emerging need in our business with a clear connection to our Culture Essentials. Symbolically and practically, it's a key piece of learning and communication to progress our culture which will have tangible impact.”
