Since we rolled out our fleet recognition programme earlier this year, it’s been fantastic to recognise and reward so many of our colleagues for their brilliant work. The programme not only recognises colleagues who have delivered exceptional service to our guests through P&O Cruises SHINE, but also those who have demonstrated excellent examples of supporting our Culture Essentials.
We caught up with Ventura, Britannia and Iona to discover their recent shining stars…
Dallon Gonsalves and Merwin Fernandez, Restaurant, Ventura
“Dallon and Merwin respected and protected their colleagues by showing full hearted dedication in delivering food to crew in quarantine. They made sure the food arrived on time and followed up with a courtesy check to make sure everyone was happy. Thank you Dallon and Merwin.”

“Mark stood out for many reasons, delivering empowering training with such passion and energy, making it really easy to understand. He’s so friendly and helpful, and ensured everyone who took part in the sessions left feeling confident and empowered. Mark also went out of his way to help colleagues collect and move lots of heavy packages safely and efficiently – a great example of Respect and Protect.”

“Deisy respected and protected the wellbeing of everyone on board, giving invaluable help during the ship’s hygiene certificate renewal process. The Hygiene Inspector in Alicante spoke very little English, so Deisy stepped in to translate for several hours – her assistance most definitely helped the ship obtain the renewal certificate.”
Iona’s team of the month – Reception Team
“Since the start of cruising for Iona, the reception team have dealt with many challenges associated with a new ship and new processes. From slow internet and helping guests with MyHoliday portal, to assisting restaurants with crowd control and helping guests with passenger locator forms, they’ve kept smiling throughout and continually receive positive SHINE nominations from guests, both as individuals and as a team. They really are shining stars.”

“Sarah received several nominations for the way she provided excellent service, keeping our younger guests amused and entertained. Described as fun and engaging, one guest singled her out for being very funny and making the classes great, even for adults too!”

“Aruna helped guests disembark quickly and safely in Gibraltar; carrying out proper checks of PCR certificates on the gangway, whilst preventing queues. His dedication to our guest’s experience was very well received and ensured everyone was happy and stayed well.”
Britannia’s team of the month – Technical Team
“The team fixed some difficult technical maintenance issues, helping to keep the cruise itinerary on schedule with just a short delay of two hours. This also helped to ensure the following Atlantic crossing could go ahead with only a minor adjustment to the ship’s speed.”
Ventura’s team of the month – Electro Technical Team
“The Electro Technical Team worked tirelessly regenerating all aspects of Ventura’s capabilities to get her ready for return to service. All departments have called upon and benefitted from the team’s comprehensive knowledge and expertise, and there would be a lot less SHINE without this team effort.”
