On Sunday 1 October, a team of colleagues from across CUK travelled from Southampton to Buckingham Palace to take on The Prince’s Trust’s annual Palace to Palace cycle challenge, a 45-mile route through Richmond Park and the Surrey countryside before finishing in Windsor, although this year’s route ended up being 46.9 miles!

So far the team has raised a fantastic £5,522 and counting!

There’s still time to show your support for your colleagues and The Prince’s Trust, by donating to their page here.

A huge thanks and congratulations to the following members of Team Cunard who did a sterling job completing the challenge: Chris Peck, Brodie Hanley-McIntosh, Emma Rogan, David Fawcett, Matt Laud, Rob Scott, Louisa Murray, Gareth Reast, Neil Christopher, Gareth Bowen, Richard Tregaskes, Bob Dixon, David Smith, Chris Bowry, Daniel Weight, Gary Price, Tom Harvey, Angus Struthers, Richard Stevens, Louise Gould and Adrian Scott.

A big thank you also goes to Intercruises and Arcadia for kindly donating the team coach and jerseys.

We caught up with some of the team to find out what they most enjoyed about Palace to Palace and why they took part this year – here’s what they had to say:.

Bob Dixon, Sales Director EMEA – Cunard & P&O Cruises

A fun day, cycling past many iconic landmarks – Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, The Thames Embankment, Putney Bridge, Richmond Park, Millionaire’s Row in Sunningdale and ultimately pedalling past Windsor Castle.  A physical challenge, a real sense of achievement and a great team event.  Be sure to put it in your diary for next year!

Emma Rogan, Senior Manager, Trade Marketing & Sales Operations

This was my second year of Place to Palace and I will be ready to sign up again! I’m by no means a keen cyclist (I borrowed a friend’s bike for this year!), but the day has such a great atmosphere and team spirit – with each of Team Cunard cheering each other on, and all for such a good cause – cycling miles to help change young lives. The beautiful scenery and support help the miles to fly by.

Matt Laud, Revenue Analyst, Cunard

I had a great day representing Team Cunard for the 2023 Palace to Palace cycle – it was hard work but really worth it! Congrats to all who took part and a huge thanks to the Cunard Events team for organising – I will definitely be cycling again next year and encourage anyone to get involved with raising money for a great cause.

If you’re feeling inspired and would like to register your interest to join Team Cunard as they take on Palace to Palace 2024 to help change young lives, please email Cunard.Events@cunard.co.uk for further details.

It’s not just Team Cunard and our shoreside colleagues who have been experiencing the brilliant benefits that cycling can bring, both for our physical and mental health. Crew from across Cunard and P&O Cruises have shared some of their stories, here.
