Since we rolled out our fleet recognition programme earlier this year, it’s been fantastic to recognise and reward so many of our colleagues for their brilliant work. The programme not only recognises colleagues who have delivered exceptional service to our guests through P&O Cruises SHINE and Cunard White Star Service, but also those who have demonstrated excellent examples of supporting our Culture Essentials.

Discover some of our recent award-winning shining stars who have been leading the way across the fleet…

Angelo Manalansanuy, Waiter, Britannia

“Angelo showed passion for respecting and protecting his fellow colleagues wellbeing by organising a crew basketball competition. This was a major whole ship event with 90 people across all departments playing a round-robin contest in the evenings. By hosting this event Angelo showed care for his colleagues mental and physical wellbeing”.

Lou-Mar Barrientos, Senior Security Patrol and Patricio Salvador, Security Patrol, Iona

“Following the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) audit, it was identified that the escape routes from the engine room were not easily accessible, meaning those exiting from the area had to deactivate two locking systems to escape. Lou-Mar and Patricio were shown the issue and then worked through the problem together to devise a solution. By adding a screw to deactivate one part of the locking mechanism, they were able to make the locks meet the requirements of the MCA audit, while maintaining the security of the area and respecting and protecting the safety of all crew.”

Rachel Hardy, Captain’s Secretary & Technical Secretary, Queen Mary 2

“Rachel has been doing two roles as Captain’s Secretary and Technical Secretary, yet still finds time to support the crew office with chasing forms and documents. She is always willing to help and support us. A brilliant example of Respect and Protect.”

Emily John, Housekeeping, Iona

“Emily recognised the signs of dementia in one of our older single guests. She not only had to contend with a couple of difficult situations where the guest was very upset and not remembering clearly, but she also raised awareness of the guest’s situation, making sure that she was looked after and that the medical team were aware of her challenges”

Iona’s team of the month – Mark Dixon and Electro Technical Team

“Mark and his team received multiple nominations. Not only did they ensure the pool stage cover in the Sky Dome was fixed, they also made sure that the security system for the Youth Centre was fully functioning – a long standing issue from when the ship was launched. This work ensured that our guests could enjoy the pool, entertainment in the Sky Dome, and the Youth Centre was able to open and operate fully.”

Diana-Alexandra Chiosea, Hotel Ops & Retail, Britannia

“Diana performed alone for nearly three cruises, from what is normally a team of three. Her performance and professional attitude throughout have been outstanding, praised by all on-board as well as shoreside stakeholders. She worked relentlessly, aiming to see every guest that wished to book a cruise or simply make an enquiry, making sure that no guest was left disappointed. She also made target for every one of those cruises, through her determined effort and commitment. The service standards to our guests were met at all times and no one would’ve been able to tell that the department was operating with limited resource.”

Britannia’s team of the month – Deck Team

“The team worked extremely hard in assisting the hotel team in securing the open deck sun loungers during the highest guests counts we’ve had so far. They also kept the ship looking her best and to the highest standards by painting the chairs and table bases, and cleaning and painting balconies during busy turnaround days. Thank you for all your support – you ALL really do SHINE!”

Congratulations to all of our fantastic winners and thank you for all your hard work. We’ll be showcasing more of our shining stars from across the fleet over the coming weeks, so keep a look out.
