This February Iona showed that love knows no bounds by hosting a Valentine’s Day and LGBTQ+ celebration event for crew. We caught up with Joey Carrigan, HR Officer onboard to tell us a little more…
“Led by the Ship Welfare Committee (SWC), our recent event was a spectacle to behold, with laughter, music, and dance filling every corner of the ship. From cupid-inspired decorations to sweet treats, every detail was meticulously crafted to spread love and joy.
A heartfelt shoutout goes to our Youth Department, whose creative flair and boundless enthusiasm brought an extra touch of magic to our celebration – their LGBTQ+ inspired rainbow wall, the backdrop to many a selfie!
And let’s not forget Mailene in Food and Beverage (F&B), whose delightful decorations in the Mess transformed our dining experience into a romantic rendezvous fit for a fairy tale. Paired with the delectable creations from our Executive Chef Trevor and the entire F&B team lead by Abel, our celebration feast was nothing short of enchanting.
So here’s to love in all its forms, and to the crew of Iona, whose unwavering spirit of inclusivity makes every day at sea a celebration.”
