Throughout the month of October we’re focusing on mental health and spotlighting the five pillars of wellbeing; connect, be active, keep learning, take notice and give. Each week we’ll explore one of the pillars and this week it’s keep learning.
Learning new skills has been shown to improve our confidence and sense of achievement, but there are also other opportunities to gain from it such as making new friends, reducing stress and improving resilience to life’s challenges.
By sharing our own mental health experiences and knowledge of wellbeing, we can all work together to support one another and end the stigma associated with mental health.
Each week throughout October we’ll be sharing a team activity and an individual activity for you to try. This week’s activities are:
Week 2: Team activity – Share your coping mechanisms with others
We challenge you and your teams to talk openly about mental health. To help you do this everyone participating in the discussion should have sight of the discussion card. Go around the group and ask each person to share a coping mechanism they use – it can be from the card, or a completely new one! Individuals should explain how they use it and the positive effects it has before you move onto the next person. Once you’ve been round the group once, take a look at what’s left on the card and ask all participants to commit to trying one new coping mechanism they are yet to try. By sharing experiences we can all work together to remove the stigma associated with mental wellness.
Week 2: Individual activity – Improve your mental health
