Throughout the month of October we’re focusing on mental health and spotlighting the five pillars of wellbeing; connect, be active, keep learning, take notice and give. Each week we’ll explore one of the pillars and this week it’s connect.
Connecting with others, either virtually or face to face, is known to have positive effects on our mental wellbeing. Connections don’t just mean our family and friends though, it’s also about how we connect with our peers, colleagues and the wider community. For many of us we recognise the importance of valuing these connections but may find that busy lives can get in the way.
Each week throughout October we’ll be sharing a team activity and an individual activity for you to try. This week’s activities are:
Week 1: Team activity – Get to know your colleagues better
We challenge you and your team to learn something about each other. We’d like you to do this by playing a little game – two truths, one lie. Try it in your team meeting or even at the start of a meeting with colleagues outside of your team (if there’s time!) Click here for full details.
Week 1: Individual activity – This could be why you’re depressed or anxious
Watch Johann Hari’s TED talk which explores the theme of connection and the often overlooked role it has in all of our lives. Got a little more time? Listen to Dr Chatterjee’s podcast with Johann Hari, ‘Is everything you know about depression wrong?‘
Don’t forget we’re hosting Mental Health Month workshops throughout October. Check out all our workshops and book your place here.
