Last weekend, 10 October, marked World Mental Health day – a day when millions of us around the world came together to take time to focus on our mental wellbeing as well as support those around us.
Britannia were proud to be part of the day and championed mental health by inviting all ship’s company to a coffee, cake and ice cream morning where everyone had a chance to get together, learn a little more about Mental Health, and how to manage mental wellness onboard.
Ship’s company were able to access information booklets and videos and worked together to create a wellness wall – a collaborative piece of work where everyone shared what they do to relax and look after their own mental health. Activities shared included Lego, drawing, exercising, sewing and taking a nap.
It was also encouraged that people have open and honest conversations and share how they feel and how they cope when they don’t feel OK.
To get people interacting with others they may not usually spend time with the ship also put on a number of activities focused on mindfulness. These included chess, puzzles and even origami, which proved quite the hit!
Well done Britannia for leading the way and encouraging good mental health for all. To see more photos from Britannia view our latest story on our @CarnivalUKcomms Instagram page.
