From glacier views and games ashore to putting handwashing skills to the test, Britannia’s ship’s company have been finding different ways to connect, recharge and look after their wellbeing.
As Britannia’s 2026 Norway season drew to a close, colleagues had the chance to step away from their onboard routines and enjoy some memorable experiences ashore, while activities on board put the focus firmly on keeping everyone healthy.
Glacier views in Olden
Colleagues calling at Olden were treated to a complimentary sightseeing experience aboard the Hop-On Hop-Off bus, giving more of Britannia’s ship’s company the opportunity to get out and explore. With spectacular Norwegian scenery, mountain landscapes and glacier views to enjoy, it offered colleagues some valuable downtime and the chance to experience more of the destinations they visit while working on board.
Making the experience available free of charge meant even more colleagues could get involved and enjoy some well-earned time away from the ship.
Fun and games in Stavanger
There was another chance to unwind during Britannia’s final Norway cruise of the 2026 season, when colleagues headed to the SNU Seamen’s Café in Stavanger for a ‘Crew Fun Afternoon’.Mobile Legends, chess, Jenga and Snakes & Ladders were all on the menu, while DJ Narendra provided the soundtrack for the afternoon.
With complimentary snacks and soft drinks provided by the café too, it was a relaxed opportunity for colleagues from across the ship to catch up, have some fun and enjoy their final visit to Stavanger of the season.
Putting handwashing to the test
Back on board, Britannia’s Public Health Officer marked World Handwashing Day by turning an everyday activity into an interactive learning experience for the ship’s company.Using Wash & Glow UV germ lotion, colleagues could put their handwashing technique to the test and see for themselves where germs could remain if hands weren’t cleaned thoroughly.
The hands-on activity was a simple but memorable reminder of just how important good hand hygiene is in helping to prevent the spread of illness on board and keeping ourselves and each other healthy.
Serving up a thank you for International Chefs Day
There was also a chance to celebrate some of the people who keep Britannia’s ship’s company well fed, as the Galley Brigade marked International Chefs Day.To make the occasion extra special, Britannia’s Executive Chef and his team created a selection of Chef’s Specials for dinner, giving colleagues the opportunity to enjoy something a little different.
But the celebration wasn’t just about what was on the menu. It was also a chance to recognise the creativity, passion and teamwork that Britannia’s culinary colleagues bring to their roles every day.
A huge thank you to the Executive Chef and the entire Galley Brigade, not just for making International Chefs Day one to savour, but for everything they do throughout the year.
Time well spent
Whether taking in a glacier, challenging a colleague to a game of chess or brushing up on healthy habits, the activities offered Britannia’s ship’s company some welcome opportunities to connect, recharge and look out for one another.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make them happen, and to all those who got involved.
