This week we hear from Becky Lester, Senior Management Accountant, Capital Planning about the benefits of cycling into the office.
I live too far away to cycle all the way to work, so I drive part of the way with my bike in the boot. I park at my mother-in-law’s and then cycle the rest of the way to the office.
I’ve had my trusty BMX for about 20 years now, and it’s small enough to fit in any car. Sometimes people joke that it looks like my kid’s bike, but it isn’t as difficult as it may look. And no, I’m not a professional BMXer – just brave enough to do a little hop now and then!
The best thing about cycling into the office is that I get a solid 15-minute workout before and after work, plus I save money on parking. And it’s super convenient to have shower facilities and lockers at Carnival House for my stuff.
I’m really big on biking safely because I had an accident as a kid that landed me in the hospital with concussion (no helmet, big mistake).
I think wearing a helmet when cycling is just as important as wearing a seatbelt when driving, so please, everyone, be safe out there!
