We all do our best to eat five fruit and vegetables a day to take care of our physical health, but what five things can we do to help our wellbeing?  

The New Economics Foundation have researched and developed ‘five ways to wellbeing’:
Connect, Be Active, Give, Take Notice, and Keep Learning. Making sure you have a good balance of all these things is a great way to help you stay well. 

This February, we’re focusing on ways we can connect with others to improve our wellbeing.  

Here’s a few ideas:  

  • Talk to someone instead of sending an email 
  • Speak to someone new 
  • Ask how someone’s weekend was – and really listen when they tell you 
  • Put five minutes aside to find out how someone really is 
  • Give a colleague a lift to work or share the journey home with them. 

What’s on this month?  

  • It’s time to talk. Join us on Thursday 2 February to recognise Time to talk Day when we’ll be encouraging everyone to make space in their day for a conversation about mental health and wellbeing. Find out more, here 
  • Find a MH First Aider. Keep a look out for our Find a MH First Aider competition – to help better connect you to our Mental Health First Aiders across Carnival House, and for the chance to win some great prizes!   
  • It’s cool to be kind. 17 February is Random Acts of Kindness Day, a time to think about how you could do something nice for someone else. Get involved from Monday 20 – Friday 24 February, with our week of Random Acts of Kindness activities. There will be lots of opportunities for you to make someone’s day.
