Teams is now live! From today all shoreside colleagues, our Onboard SMT and some select roles onboard will have access to Microsoft Teams.
Teams is a collaboration app that helps you to stay organised and have conversations all in one place – providing workspace chat, videoconferencing, Teams calling, file sharing, storage, and application integration.
As well as the usual features we’ve been used to using with Zoom, and Sametime, such as video calling and chat – Teams provides us with so much more.
- It’s more than just chat you can use the chat window in Teams to have quick conversations with your colleagues. But there’s so much more to it. Need to share a file? Just attach it in the chat. Then simply call your colleague to discuss the file straight from the window. Chat integration with other Microsoft products like OneNote and Office means no more switching between apps throughout your conversation. It’s all right there in a chat.
- Fewer emails. As conversations are now held in a structural way in your Teams, you can now rely less on all the email-upon-email responses. And if somebody needs to send you a file, or ask you a one-liner question? That’s what chat’s for!
- Improved collaboration and communication. Thanks to the tight integration with Office 365, you don’t need to switch apps when you need to collaborate on a document. You can create the Word, Excel or PowerPoint document in Teams, immediately share it with your co-workers and then co-author within a blink of an eye. No more sending out different versions through email and the resulting version confusion. You can add comments and to-dos, and chat with your co-workers to discuss the document right there.
- Your Activity Feed. Start your day with a quick glance: who said what, when and where. See your mentions and messages all in one place.
- Create Meetings direct from your Outlook Calendar: When you create a meeting in Outlook, there is a Teams button you can click on which will automatically add a link to your meeting in the invite when you click on it.
- Set up your own Teams. Microsoft Teams is the name of the application software – however you can also set up your own Teams channel, for your own department or project. This Team is a collaboration space for everyone involved to chat, share documents and collaborate. To create you own Team channel, you’ll need to complete this form.
