Today Athena and m’power are teaming up to discuss mental health and the pressures on men.
While it’s recognised that mental health affects all genders, sexualities, races and religions; suicide and depression disproportionately impact men.
Unfortunately, in the UK this means:
- A man tries to commit suicide every two hours
- Men are three times more likely to kill themselves than women
- Suicide is the biggest killer in men under 45 years old
All colleagues are invited to today’s session where Athena and m’power will look at some of the pressures that society places on men, and the knock-on impact this has. They’ll also discuss some unhelpful stereotypes with the aim to begin to break these down.
The Zoom session runs from 12:00-13:00 today. Join using this link.
This event explores themes around depression and suicide – we’re making you aware in case that’s something you need to protect yourself from. If you need help we’ll be discussing this in the session.
