With a firm plan to get our ships back in service and UK vaccinations moving along at pace, like many other companies, we’re actively considering how and when we start to use the office more routinely.
Together and as individuals, we’ve learned so many lessons from the last year of enforced remote working and we’re really keen that when the office is available for use again, we don’t all simply revert back to our previous ways of working.
We have a unique opportunity to use our experiences to define a different way of working that combines working both from the office and remotely – so a hybrid way of working – some time at home and some time in the office. To simplify, hybrid working is just a build on flexible working but with more focus on where we work from, not just the hours we work.

We haven’t yet fully experienced hybrid working to know what it takes to be really effective and so we’re actively seeking your views and ideas through our pulse surveys as well as the Employee Experience Group (EEG) representatives on the things we need to consider to make sure the right tools and support are in place. Just as we found our way with remote working, we’ll need to test, practice, fail and learn as we go to understand how to make it work for us.
To help us shape our thinking we’re regularly speaking with your EEG representatives so please do continue to speak up and voice your questions and thoughts on the subject. And, if you haven’t yet had your say in our pulse survey, click here to share your views on what it’s like to work for Carnival UK. Survey closes 26 March 2021.
At the recent business updates, we signaled our intention to reopen the office collaboration spaces from 17 May at the earliest, with bookable desks available later in the year. We plan to share a more detailed roadmap in the next couple of weeks.
