Today our Pulse Survey opens for opens for our shoreside colleagues from Carnival UK, Princess, Seabourn, HAL and everyone who would normally work out of Carnival House – this is your opportunity to tell us what it really feels like working here (the good and the not so good) and to share your thoughts on how we can improve the employee experience for everyone.

Every six months we invite you to take part in this survey so we can check-in and find out how you’re doing, what you’re most enjoying, what you think needs to change, and whether initiatives that were introduced following previous Pulse Surveys, have had a positive impact for you and your colleagues.

Tell us what it really feels like to work here!

The details you share aren’t used to identify anyone – Respecting and Protecting colleagues is hugely important to us.

What we ask and why

As part of the Pulse Survey, we ask one key eNPS question – eNPS stands for ‘employee Net Promoter Score’ and is single question method that we, along with lots of other employers, use to understand “How likely it is that you would recommend your place of work to a friend or colleague (on a scale of 0-10)?” The eNPS figure is calculated by subtracting the percentage of detractors (scores of 0-6) from the percentage of promoters (scores of 9-10). All passive scores count as 0 (scores of 7 or 8). The final number is our eNPS and we track this to make sure we’re focusing on the things that matter the most to our people.

To help us understand your employee experience in even more depth, the Pulse Survey also explores some specific themes with you, such as treating you as an individual and making sure that working here is good for your long-term career. These are ongoing actions for us and we’ll continue to look at the scores for these questions over the next few surveys to see if you think things are improving. We’re also asking questions around working from home; as we consider what the future of Carnival House looks like, your feedback will help us shape this vision.

At Carnival UK we’re committed to inclusion and recognise that there isn’t, and shouldn’t ever be, a one-size-fits-all approach to the employee experience. That’s why we ask diversity related questions to find out how we’re doing in this space. Know that this information isn’t used to identify anyone, nor is it shared at department level – Respecting and Protecting colleagues is hugely important to us.

What happens next?

What you tell us in each Pulse Survey influences our colleague-focused business decisions – for example, in the last survey you told us you wanted support with healthy remote working practices, so since September we’ve done this by supporting people to get the equipment they need, and through information via our channels – we’ve encouraged Zoom-Free Fridays, helped you set up your workstations at home correctly, and shared wellbeing resources to support a healthy work/life balance.

Your Employee Experience Groups (EEG) also use the Pulse Survey results to recommend department-specific action plans. With the support of your Senior Leaders and HR Business Partner they work locally to support colleagues and seek your feedback on proposed Carnival UK changes and new ideas. Find out more about the work of your EEGs here.

We’ll share the results of the Pulse Survey in April.
