On Monday the UK Government announced new restrictions to control the impact of COVID-19 and for the next three weeks, we must only go outside for food, health reasons or work (where this absolutely cannot be done from home); stay two metres (6ft) away from other people; and wash our hands as soon as we get home.

Read more about the Government restriction guidelines here.

Your health and wellbeing is our number one priority and as a responsible employer we fully support this Government announcement and take this situation very seriously. That’s why, for the next three weeks, Carnival House and The Academy are now closed  – to keep you safe and well, if you arrive at the office you’ll be refused entry.

There are, of course, key roles within Carnival UK that must have access to the office during these three weeks. Our Business Continuity team have worked with Senior Leaders to create lists of these critical people, based on Business Continuity Plan (BCP) requirements.

These lists have now been finalised and if you are on the list, you’ll have been contacted. As per Government guidelines, those not contacted must continue to work from home, as long as you are fit and well to do so, and those contacted should only access the office for critical tasks, as long as you are fit and well to do so, working from home at all other times. The critical access lists have been approved by the BCP team and Senior Leaders, but if you believe you need critical access and haven’t been contacted, please speak to your Senior Leader.

Flexibility is key

We know colleagues have elderly relatives and children to look after. There’s home-learning activities to take on, alongside finding a work/life balance that supports personal and practical needs. Daily routines are disrupted and we’re having to very quickly adapt to potentially challenging scenarios.

In the first instance, please speak to your line manager to agree a flexible working pattern that fits around your individual circumstances and the requirements of your role and your team. Read more about flexible working here. For questions on our policies around sick pay and leave for dependent care, in relation to coronavirus, read our shore FAQs.

We’ve never been in a situation like this before and we’re finding our way together. Thank you to everyone for adapting and supporting each other during this tough time. By being ‘Better together’ and taking the right actions now, it will enable us to bring our business back into operation when the time comes, stronger and better than ever.

Remember, use The Insider COVID-19 pages for the single source of truth for Carnival UK coronavirus (COVID-19) guidance.

As the COVID-19 situation can change quickly, we recommend referencing the UK Government website, alongside the NHS website for the most up-to-date coronavirus (COVID-19) information.
