It’s been a busy couple of months on board Aurora. As well as helping to create unforgettable holiday happiness for thousands of guests, our crew have found time to enjoy some memorable moments of their own, from live music and friendly competition to cultural celebrations, an unforgettable trip to the Pyramids and activities supporting health and wellbeing.

Here’s a look back at some of the highlights…

Taking to the stage

Aurora kicked off its first Crew Band Night of 2026 at The Hub, bringing together talented crew from Technical, Hotel Operations, Medical, Entertainment and Food & Beverage. With guitarists, singers and a drummer taking to the stage, there was plenty of great music and positive energy as colleagues sang along and joined in.

The entertainment continued with the Aurora Crew Talent Show, where crew from across the ship performed for guests and showcased some of the incredible talent on board. It was a great opportunity to create a memorable experience for guests while supporting Aurora’s focus on NPS.

A huge well done to everyone who stepped into the spotlight and helped make both events such a success.

A crew tour to remember

One of Aurora’s most anticipated crew tours took place on 29 September, when 180 crew members visited the Great Pyramids of Giza.

During the nine-hour trip, colleagues had the chance to experience one of the world’s most iconic destinations, learn more about its history, capture plenty of photos and even enjoy a camel ride in the desert.

It was a real team effort behind the scenes too. The Galley and F&B teams prepared complimentary packed lunches for everyone, while HR Manager Sharon arranged water and chocolate bars, subsidised by the Seafarers Welfare Committee.

A big thank you also goes to the Shore Excursions and Crew Office teams, Welfare Officer Mica, Heads of Department and everyone else who supported the trip and helped give so many crew members the opportunity to experience the Pyramids.

Bringing out the competitive spirit

There’s also been plenty of friendly competition on Aurora. Crew put their sporting skills to the test in a 3-Point Shootout, won by a member of the Deck team, while the Billiard Tournament saw Technical take the top spot. A lively cricket match brought colleagues together outdoors for some teamwork, fun and friendly competition.

To mark World Maritime Day, crew were also invited to put their creativity to work in a poster-making competition. The winning entry came from the Restaurant team, with participants using colour and imagination to celebrate the maritime world.

Congratulations to all the winners and everyone who got involved, supported their colleagues and helped bring the activities to life.

Celebrating Dussehra together

Crew members also came together to celebrate Dussehra, a significant Hindu festival symbolising the victory of good over evil. The festival commemorates Lord Rama’s triumph over the demon king Ravana and serves as a reminder of the importance of righteousness, courage and truth.
The celebration began with a traditional prayer and pooja ceremony, where crew gathered to seek blessings, express gratitude and pray for prosperity. Following the prayers, everyone enjoyed Mahaprasad, a sacred meal offered after religious worship and specially prepared by the Galley Team. The meal added a meaningful touch to the celebration, with a special thank you going to Executive Chef Vijay for his continued support and contribution.

The festivities continued with an energetic Garba performance by crew members. This traditional folk dance from Gujarat, India, is known for its lively music, rhythmic movements and spirit of togetherness. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate culture, strengthen friendships and bring Aurora’s diverse crew community closer together.

Supporting crew health and wellbeing

To mark World Mental Health Day on 10 October, Aurora’s Medical Team organised a Mental Health Awareness Talk focused on the importance of looking after our emotional, psychological and social wellbeing while living and working on board.
Nurse Paul led the session, “Mental Health Matters: You Are Not Alone,” encouraging open conversations, self-care and seeking help when it’s needed. Crew were also reminded about the support available through the Crew Assistance Programme (CAP), while Welfare Officer Mica provided motivational cards and keychains for those attending.
Continuing the focus on crew health and wellbeing, Aurora also marked Global Handwashing Day with an interactive session led by Public Health Officer Newton. Crew washed their hands before using Glow Germ and a UV light to see whether they had missed any areas, providing a simple but powerful demonstration of how germs can remain on our hands when they aren’t washed thoroughly.
Thank you to everyone who took part, as well as the Medical Team and Welfare Officer for helping to deliver both activities.

From performing on stage and competing with colleagues to celebrating different cultures, exploring an iconic destination and supporting each other’s wellbeing, these activities have been a brilliant opportunity for Aurora’s crew to spend time together beyond their day-to-day roles.

A huge thank you to everyone who organised, supported or took part.
