From wellbeing initiatives and social events to unique behind-the-scenes opportunities, there’s been plenty happening on board Arvia to bring crew together, support healthy lifestyles and celebrate life at sea. Here’s a look at some of the recent activities enjoyed by colleagues across the ship.
Building friendships and connection
Creating opportunities for colleagues to relax, socialise and connect outside of work remains an important part of life on board. One popular event was a Girls Night In, which brought together women from across different departments for an evening of games, giveaways and wellbeing-focused activities.
Hosted by Welfare Officer Caroline, the event featured a hair care seminar led by the ship’s onboard hairdresser, Amanda-Lee, alongside product giveaways funded by the Seafarers Welfare Committee. More than just an enjoyable evening, it provided a chance for colleagues to meet new people, build friendships and spend time together away from their day-to-day roles.

A special night of entertainment
Another highlight saw the Crew Mess transformed into a lively venue when guest entertainers SaxJos and DJ Haze performed a special set exclusively for crew. Colleagues came together to enjoy an evening of music, dancing and celebration, creating a fantastic atmosphere and plenty of memorable moments.
The event was made possible through the support of Entertainment Manager Mike and Production Manager Stama, and provided another opportunity for crew to come together, unwind and enjoy the vibrant community spirit that makes life on board Arvia so special.

Supporting health and wellbeing
Alongside social activities, the onboard team has continued to focus on helping colleagues make positive choices for their health and wellbeing.
Hosted by Senior Nurse Kallum and Welfare Officer Caroline, a smoking awareness event gave colleagues the opportunity to talk openly about quitting smoking and learn more about nicotine replacement therapies. They were able to access information, ask questions and learn more about the support available through the Medical Team, including stop-smoking appointments, nicotine replacement therapy and ongoing guidance. Resources from the NHS and World Health Organization were also shared to help those considering a smoke-free future.
The Medical Team and Welfare Team also partnered to host a dental health pop-up, designed to raise awareness of good oral hygiene practices and promote preventative care. Colleagues received practical advice on maintaining healthy teeth and gums, while more than 120 dental care kits containing a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss were distributed. There was also an opportunity to enter a raffle to win an electric toothbrush prize funded by the Seafarers Welfare Committee.
Together, these initiatives demonstrate the ongoing commitment to supporting colleague wellbeing through education, practical resources and easy access to health information.

A different perspective from the bridge
One of the most talked-about experiences offered to crew was the opportunity to visit the bridge and gain a fascinating insight into the operation of the ship. Colleagues from a variety of departments were invited to take part in guided tours, providing a rare chance to see first-hand the technology, teamwork and expertise involved in navigating a ship the size of Arvia.
The tours, coordinated by First Officer Michael and led by Third Officer Kyle, gave participants an opportunity to learn about navigation systems, radar displays and the controls used to safely manoeuvre the ship. For many, seeing the bridge up close helped deepen their appreciation for the colleagues and processes that keep operations running smoothly every day. An unexpected dolphin sighting made the experience even more memorable for those taking part.

Whether supporting healthier lifestyles, creating opportunities to connect with colleagues or offering unique behind-the-scenes experiences, these activities help make Arvia a great place to live and work.
