The Crew on Arvia have been busy the last few weeks with events, competitions and wellbeing initiatives. It’s great to see our crew making the most of every moment onboard.
Women’s Seafarer Group Haircare Event
Arvia’s Women’s Seafarer Group recently came together for an engaging and informative haircare seminar led by the wonderful onboard hairdresser, Amanda Lee.
Amanda shared her expert knowledge, guiding everyone through the essentials of haircare. From practical daily tips to helpful do’s and don’ts. She provided advice that was both easy to follow and highly relevant to life at sea.
The session also included a fun and interactive hair quiz, with fantastic prizes up for grabs, including hair masks, treatments, and nourishing oils. To round off the evening, a raffle was held for a star prize, a GHD curling wand.

Karaoke Night
Karaoke night is the one time each week where everyone comes together and lets their hair down! Having grown from a few nervous crew members, weekly karaoke is now a full room of enthusiastic performers ready to sing their hearts out!

Glimmer Moments Photography Competition
Over the last two Mediterranean cruises, Arvia hosted a very special photography competition inspired by the theme “Glimmer Moments.” A glimmer is a small, fleeting moment that sparks joy, peace, or gratitude. The golden shimmer of sunlight on the sea, laughter shared over dinner, or a quiet sunrise on deck.
The entries received were amazing! The creativity, emotion, and beauty captured in each photo made choosing winners incredibly difficult. Every single submission was something special. Here are just some of the amazing entries that brought those glimmer moments to life.
“It’s important to find the joy in the smaller everyday things in the world around us, and the vibrancy of the fruit and vegetables at a market stall just lifted my mood!”
Hannah Green – Toulon

“It’s a moment of joy because it feels like stumbling into someone’s childhood imagination, alive on a sunny street.”
Priyank Singh – Cádiz

“ In the middle of a quiet street, I found a loud reminder of how far I’ve come.”
Ankit Suneja – La Spezia
Pop Up Shop on Arvia
In April the Pop Up Crew Shop was introduced to all ships during Southampton turnaround days. Organised through the efforts of Dan Yeates, Wellbeing Manager, in collaboration with LG Cruise Control Ltd., this initiative has brought a wide and thoughtfully curated range of products directly to the crew between 10:00 and 14:00 in the Crew Mess.
The response from the crew has been overwhelmingly positive. The variety of items available, from everyday essentials to personal treats has been both practical and appreciated, especially given the unique challenges of life at sea.
One standout moment was Easter Sunday in Southampton. With all shoreside shops closed and a week ahead in Norway, where even basic items can be costly, the pop-up shop proved invaluable. It was exceptionally busy that day, highlighting just how important and well-timed this service was.
Celebrating Arvia’s Victory: Battle of the Ships Raffle Event
To celebrate Arvia proudly winning the Battle of the Ships, a special raffle event was held in the Crew Mess during lunchtime on a busy sea day, bringing a burst of energy and excitement right when it was needed most.
Hosted by Sarah (HRO), John (HRM), and Caroline (CWO), the event created a lively and uplifting atmosphere, complete with music and celebrations. Despite the fast-paced day on board, the Crew Mess quickly filled with smiles, laughter, and a strong sense of shared achievement, truly bringing joy to crew members across all departments.
The Hotel General Manager, Gordon, organised 100 exciting prizes for the raffle. Every member of the ship’s company was entered, ensuring everyone had the chance to be part of the celebration.
Using a randomiser, 100 crew members were selected as winners and announced live in the Crew Mess. Each winner was invited to take photos with the stunning Battle of the Ships gold trophy, a shining symbol of teamwork, dedication, and success.
The event was a perfect reminder that even on the busiest of sea days, moments like these can lift spirits and bring everyone together.

Well done to everyone who took part in these events. If you’ve taken part in an event recently, or you have some news for us, get in touch by submitting your story, here.
