Crew members onboard Aurora recently had the chance to take part in a fascinating and educational shore experience during their visit to Trondheim, with a complimentary tour of the SeeSalmon Center.

The visit offered a unique behind-the-scenes look at Norway’s world-renowned salmon farming industry, highlighting the country’s strong commitment to sustainability and high-quality seafood production.

During the tour, crew were guided through the full journey of salmon farming from a salmons earliest life stages through to harvesting. Interactive exhibits brought the process to life, explaining how the fish are carefully reared, including feeding practices, environmental monitoring and the strict standards in place to protect both the fish and the surrounding ecosystem.

One of the standout moments of the experience was the immersive Virtual Reality (VR) activity. Stepping into a digital underwater world, crew were able to explore a salmon farm from beneath the surface – gaining a completely new perspective on the scale and complexity of the operation.

The visit was both informative and engaging, giving crew a deeper appreciation of the work that goes into sustainable food production and the innovation behind it. Experiences like this not only enrich time ashore but also provide valuable learning opportunities that crew can take with them beyond the visit.

A big thank you to the team at the SeeSalmon Center for hosting such an insightful and memorable tour.
