Colleagues on board Aurora came together recently to celebrate International Day for Women in Maritime – a global moment to recognise the vital role women play across the industry and the importance of continuing to drive gender equality.

To mark the occasion, Welfare Officer Mica organised a Women’s Forum, creating an inclusive space for crew to connect, reflect and celebrate the contributions of women at sea. The event blended recognition with a strong sense of community, sparking meaningful conversations and shared appreciation.

A highlight of the forum was an inspiring talk, which set the tone by recognising the vital role women play across all areas of maritime operations. There was plenty of fun too, with a quiz, bingo and games creating a lively atmosphere, alongside a raffle featuring prizes including bags, watches and perfume.

The galley team added a special touch with soft drinks and beautifully crafted cupcakes, giving everyone the chance to relax and enjoy time together.

Welfare Officer Mica said:

“It was a memorable and successful event, promoting unity, appreciation and empowerment. It was a wonderful reminder of how important it is to recognise and support women in maritime, while bringing everyone together in a spirit of community and celebration. A big thank you to our volunteer host, Nadine from the bar, whose support and enthusiasm helped make the event so special.”
