During Queen Mary 2’s visit to Cape Town on 12 April, her crew hosted a special day for 30 children and seven staff members from Sakinderhuis Children’s Home.

The visit began with a guided tour of the ship’s public areas, offering the group a glimpse into life on board, followed by a memorable trip to the Bridge, where they had the unique opportunity to meet Captain Andrew Hall, Navigator John Crib, and the team.

The experience concluded with a buffet in the elegant Queens Room, prepared by F&B Manager Mark Oldroyd and Executive Chef Catalin Baba alongside their teams.

Throughout the day, crew members warmly welcomed the group, creating a joyful and inclusive atmosphere. Before departing, each child received a goody bag filled with treats.

Staff from Sakinderhuis described the day as a truly unforgettable experience, one the children will cherish for the rest of their lives.

Thank you, Queen Mary 2!
