This month Azura will be treated to a refit that will leave her ready for another season of sun-soaked adventures at sea. From crew to guest spaces, here’s what we’ll be focusing on …

  • Crew cabins: We’ll be upgrading vinyl in 109 cabins as well as installing 200 new shower trays, 252 new in-cabin towel rails, 194 new mirror cabinets and 93 new hand basins.
  • The Hub: To enhance the offering in the Hub we’ll be installing a new coffee machine. We’ll also be making repairs and freshening up decor in this space.
  • Other crew spaces: We’ll be installing new washers and dryers in the launderette, adding a new coffee machine to the mess and helping to keep crew hydrated by installing 15 new bottle filling water dispensers throughout the ship. We’ll also be adding the latest Technogym equipment to the gym space.

For our guests we’ll be focusing on …

Restaurants

We’re elevating the design in these popular venues to reflect the quality of the overall dining experience.

  • Sindhu: The popular Indian/British restaurant will have a new look that reflects its flavourful fusion menu: metallic elements blend with traditional fabrics and modern styling to create a rich, opulent space.
  • The Glass House: Glass itself is the inspiration for the updated look at Olly Smith’s popular wine bar, with crisp lines, geometric shapes and energetic, harmonious colourways.
  • The Epicurean: An elegant restaurant deserves an elegant look. Reddish tones pay homage to exotic spices and fresh ingredients and combine with neutral shades to create a warm, natural finish across seating, cushions and carpets.

  • Oriental Restaurant: In this main dining restaurant, new carpeting and furniture will be rendered in floral motifs and a palette of pinks and greens that reference shapes and colours found in nature with a nod to a traditional aesthetic.
  • Verona and Venezia: The hand wash stations at these popular eateries will be given an upgrade – at Verona with deep brick-red tones and elegant vertical tiles, and at Venezia with soft beiges and silvers and reflective, slender tiles.

Bars

Whether guests are after a coffee, a cocktail or a night on the tiles, Azura’s bars offer something for everyone.

  • Java: The coffee bar will be perked up with organic textures and rustic, earthy tones that take inspiration from the process of coffee making.
  • Breakers Bar: The beauty of the beach inspires the fresh and informal new look at Breakers – think tropical sea blues, warm corals and sandy tones on tiles and floors, and for accent colours.
  • Manhattan Lounge: New carpeting and upholstery reflecting bold, urban energy through vibrant colours and design references taken from soaring city architecture.

Accommodation
  • Cabins: Guests cabin will be even cosier with new carpets and curtains and new fabric on desk chairs, sofa beds and headboards. Refreshed blues work in harmony with wooden tones and a neutral palette to create a relaxing ambiance, while soft, tactile finishes up the relaxation factor.
  • Suites: Soothing lavender and neutrals will be added to the colour palette, which along with wooden tones and soft textures create a balanced colour scheme across carpets, headboards, curtains, chairs and cushions. We’ll also bring in new ceiling lamps, bedside lamps and reading lamps and USB charger options.

Elsewhere on board we’ll be;

  •  Installing a new layout for the Loyalty and Cruise Sales desk with an additional desk, a brochure rack and digital screens
  • Creating a new space for Elemis skincare on deck 7 (the former photo gallery)
  • Installing new carpet in guest cabin corridors
  • Carrying out maintenance works to lifts and public toilets
  • Installing new open-deck furniture
  • Replacing six whirlpools
  • Adding the latest Technogym equipment to the gym.

Azura’s refit will be carried out by SMC Design, a London-based agency that specialises in interior design for cruise ships. Starting on Saturday 8 March, her refit will be completed in Malta, her Mediterranean fly-cruise home port, and is scheduled to finish on Saturday 27 March 2025.

Later this month keep an eye on The Insider for reveals of some of Azura’s newly re-fitted spaces.
