On Sunday 15 September, the first of two special Queen Mary 2 ship visits took place, led by members of this year’s Million Makers team, with all profits going to The Prince’s Trust. Guests were able to purchase tickets at £120 each and the event was publicised on social media and in a direct email to 8,000 Cunard guests who were yet to step on board Cunard’s flagship.

The exclusive visit was a huge success, raising £3,500 for The Prince’s Trust and received lots of lovely feedback from guests in attendance.

On the day, guests were welcomed at Mayflower Terminal by volunteers from Carnival UK and once onboard Queen Mary 2, made their way straight to the Queens Room for refreshments including tea, coffee, colourful fruit platters and pastries cooked by our talented chefs on board.

A harpist provided music to the room, Bellhops posed for photo opportunities, and Captain Andrew Hall officially welcomed guests on board, with information about The Prince’s Trust, Cunard’s long-standing partnership with the charity and our fundraising efforts.

The guests were then taken on a guided tour around the ship, taking in the wonderful spaces that can be enjoyed during our voyages, before being delighted with a three-course lunch, wine and petit fours.

Guests also took away a gift to remember their day on board as well as a copy of the latest Cunarder magazine, voyage sales calendar, information about the work of The Prince’s Trust and a discount leaflet to purchase a voyage map from Cruise Maps.

The Million Makers team give a huge thanks to:

  • Our Ship’s Company for organising and providing a wonderful day on board; excellent food and service, Hana for planning the event, Caty and Yoyo from Voyage Sales for providing a guided tour, and security officer Jon Hambly for arranging the passes
  • Volunteers from Carnival UK who helped with check in and showing guests on board and around the ship on event day (Helen Williams, Khai Locke-White, Anastasia Slizova, Adam Goater, Dani Kamp)
  • Port Ops Manager William Harper
  • Partnerships Team, Nicola White
  • Brand Team, Chris Peck
  • The team at Cruise Maps
  • Tom Axton (CUK legal department)

There’s still tickets available for the next Queen Mary 2 visit, taking place on 1 November 2024 in the port of Southampton. Book your place here.

Million Makers is an innovative entrepreneurial challenge that sees teams of employees from organisations across the UK compete to raise as much money for The Prince’s Trust and raises over £1 million every year to change the lives of young people they support.

Cunard is proud to be taking part in the Million Makers challenge again this year and these special ship visits are just one of several initiatives Team Cunard is running as part of their fundraising.
