This May, in support of nationally recognised Learning at Work Week, we’re focusing on the importance and benefits of continual learning and development. This year’s theme is Learning Power.
Throughout the month, the learning team will be hosting a series of activities and events to support you to find your power to grow, connect and engage with Carnival UK’s fantastic learning offer.

Ask the learning team – Thursday 2 May
Come and meet the learning team in person to find out more about development opportunities on offer at Carnival UK, as well as ask any questions you have. Pop down to Las Palmas on the Ground Floor of Carnival House anytime between 13:00 and 14:00. Click here to save the time in your diary.
Join a Personal Development Planning workshop – Tuesday 7 May
Dial in to Teams from 11:00 for this 45-minute session where the learning team will be sharing plenty of hints and tips to help you create and maintain your own personal development plan. Click here to add the meeting to your diary.
Ask the learning team – Friday 10 May
This is your second opportunity to come and meet the learning team to find out more about development opportunities on offer at Carnival UK, as well as ask any questions you have. Take part in a Power Hour: Radical Candour and how to apply it – Thursday 16 May
Explore how you can strike the balance between being clear yet kind when providing feedback to others. This session will be held in Victoria on the fourth floor of Carnival House between 11:00 and 12:30. No need to book a space, but be sure to save the date and time in your diary here.
Take part in a Power Hour: Building collaborative relationships – Tuesday 21 May
Explore top tips on how to connect with others and collaborate effectively, so that together we can achieve our individual and business goals. This session will be held in Victoria on the fourth floor of Carnival House between 14:00 and 15:00. No need to book a space for this session but you can save the date and time in your diary here.
Connect with colleagues and share career stories – Thursday 23 May
Come and connect with colleagues from around the business to learn more about what they do and how they got to be in the role they are today. Come prepared to share a bit about what you do too! This session will be very informal, come and say hi in Gdynia on the first floor between 14:00 and 15:00. Save the time in your diary here.
Learning at Work Atrium event – Wednesday 29 May
Head down to the Atrium and speak with the learning team to find out more about development opportunities at Carnival UK including upcoming Power Hours and Leaders exchange sessions. They’ll also be on hand to give you a demo of The Cove, and Good Practice and answer any questions you have. Plus, between 12:00 and 13:00 head to the ground floor of Carnival House to take a look at the newly refurbished training space, the ‘Learning Hub’. Look for the Learning Hub signage in the main meeting room space on the ground floor. You’ll receive a diary invite shortly!
On board our ships our Learning Development Officers will also be hosting events and activities for crew to take part in. Look out for more details in crew areas on board your ship.
As we approach the midpoint of the year, it’s a great opportunity to reflect on your development so far and consider what other skills and knowledge you may need to help you reach where you want to be by the end of the year. For more information on how to complete your mid-year review click here.
