On Sunday 14 April, Cunard celebrated the world-class status of London theatre at the Oliver Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall. Hosted by renowned stage and screen actor and three-time Olivier Award nominee, Hannah Waddingham, the Olivier Awards are Britain’s most prestigious stage honours.

Cunard was delighted to sponsor the Olivier for ‘Best Revival’ for the fourth year and this award recognises a theatre performance that has returned to the stage and captured the audiences’ imagination.

Presented by Michael Sheen and Anna Maxwell Martin, the Olivier was awarded to Vanya by Anton Chekhov, adapted by Simon Stephens at the Duke Of York’s Theatre.

Comedic and tragic, Chekhov’s examination of our shared humanity – our hopes, dreams, regrets – is thrust into sharp focus in Vanya. This production explores the kaleidoscope of human emotions, harnessing the power of the intimate bond between actor and audience to delve deeper into the human psyche. Filmed live during its sold-out run in London’s West End, find out more about how you can watch a screening of Vanya as part of National Theatre Live here.

Cunard has been in partnership with the Society of London Theatre since 2019, proudly sponsoring the “Best Revival” award at the annual Olivier Awards and together co-creating London Theatre at Sea which returns to Queen Mary 2 on 15 June 2024.
