Iona’s Seafarers Welfare Committee recently hosted a day trip to Valencia’s BioParc giving crew the chance to visit an area at the forefront of global conservation.
The BioParc which showcases commitment to preserving biodiversity and vital ecosystems across continents, also actively participates in international programs under the umbrella of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA).
Hannah, a member of the Youth Department, expressed her awe at the openness and safety of BioParc. Her enthusiasm was contagious as she shared, “I’ve never been so close to these animals before. No barriers or cages, just the animals in their element, living in the best conditions.” Her admiration reached its peak at the Giraffe enclosure, where she marvelled at the opportunity to get up close and personal with these majestic creatures.

The magic of BioParc lies not only in its conservation efforts but also in its commitment to connecting society with nature and raising awareness.
Our crew deliver unforgettable moments for our guests every single day and so it’s always great to hear that they’ve had the opportunity to explore new places in the fantastic destination we visit.
