At Carnival UK we’re committed to our responsibility to preserve and protect the marine environment. That’s why, on 15 September and 25 October, to support the Marine Conservation Society’s ‘Great British Beach Clean’, two groups from our CUK Shoreside Teams completed beach cleans on Weston Shore and Calshot Beach.

The teams selected a 100m stretch of beach at their chosen location and armed with litter pickers and bin bags collected items of rubbish that had either been left on the beach or washed ashore.

Between the two events they collected over 18kg of waste, with all of this being categorised into types of plastic, glass, rubber, wood, etc. This information was then submitted to the Marine Conservation Society who include this in their research. They will use it to understand the source of waste and campaign for positive change.

All those who participated really enjoyed the day, benefiting from some sea air and also giving back to the local community and supporting conservation efforts. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, we’ll be looking to organise more of these events going forward, knowing how important it is invest in the conservation of our marine environments and contributing to our sustainability goals!
