Did you know that 1 in 4 people face mental health challenges, yet many of us struggle to find the support we need?
Having personally experienced the impact of mental health stigma while growing up in post-communist Romania, I understand the importance of breaking down barriers. At 17 I had heard the dismissive ‘just get over it’ or, even worse, the slightly empathetic ‘just stop thinking about it’ countless times, even from professionals. But I was fortunate enough to overcome anxiety and reclaim my well-being.
I’ve witnessed the toll that untreated mental health issues can take on individuals and their loved ones. With running being the last step in the bridge I had built for my wellbeing, running my first 10 miles (16km) in the Great South Run for Mind just made sense.
This incredible charity is transforming lives across England and Wales, advocating for mental health as an everyday priority. They’re challenging inequalities in healthcare, work, and law that make the journey tougher for those of us with mental health struggles.
