Throughout July the housekeeping team onboard Arvia focused “Improve” using a 7-step approach.
- Identify the problem or opportunity
- Measure existing performance
- Plan and prioritise actions
- Respond by implementing the action
- Observe the result
- Verify effectiveness of the new way of working
- Evaluate how sustainable it is
By focusing on “Improve” the team were able to identify several opportunities for change, including:
- Making themselves more visible to guests
- Gaining a better understanding of safety awareness by proactively discussing one safety focus a day during musters
- Making new team members feel more confident in the tasks they were completing by introducing a buddy system – pairing up new starters with experienced members of the team.
- Sharing knowledge and experience across the team to help upskill all team members and continuously improve ways of working, allowing more time to add special touches for guests.
