On Sunday 25 June we celebrated Day of the Seafarer, a chance to recognise the invaluable contribution of seafarers across the globe and say a huge thank you to our incredible crew who work on board our ships, creating unforgettable holiday happiness every day.

Check out some of the celebrations on board…

On Azura the team held a double celebration recognising both Day of the Seafarer and Pride month. The carnival theme event was a great success with colleagues enjoying food and drink, as well as lots of fun party games including hoopla, hook a duck and pin the tail on the donkey!

Meanwhile colleagues on board Iona enjoyed a special service of strawberries, ice cream and free softies in the crew mess, thanks to our F&B team. Our galley team, under the expert eye of Executive Chef Paul Rowe, also produced a wonderful cake to celebrate the special day, with Hotel General Manager Gordon Marshall doing the honours of cutting the cake.

As an extra special touch the SWC (Seafarer’s Welfare Committee) have also arranged for every crew member on board Iona on 25 June to receive a heritage historic P&O Shipping Company enamelled pin badge – a special memento representing P&O Cruises great heritage and our amazing seafarers serving on board.

Thanks for sharing your celebrations with us Azura and Iona! Want to showcase your ship’s events on The Insider? Email us at internal.comms@carnivalukgroup.com
