One of the reasons we’re a great team is that we work with people from all over the world. Our colleagues come from different backgrounds, have different life experiences, and different views on the world. At Carnival UK we celebrate these differences and are focused on DE&I (diversity, equity and inclusion) all year round.
As part of this, we’re proud to mark Pride Month and it’s fantastic to see so many of our colleagues getting involved. Earlier this month the team on Iona held a variety of special events to celebrate. We caught up with HR Officer Joey Carrigan to find out more…
“Here on Iona we’re proud to celebrate equality, inclusion and diversity. With June being Pride Month it was a great occasion for us all to come together.
Communities across our ship’s company participated in many SWC (Seafarer’s Welfare Committee) sponsored Pride events, showcasing their dedication to celebrating LGBTQIA+.
Our Iona ‘Over the Rainbow’ Pride Party saw that spirit come alive where not only was the dance floor filled with joy, happiness, respect but the atmosphere was full of love and acceptance.
The Mess was beautifully decorated and influenced by all departments, each playing a part in making the night both magical and memorable for all. There are too many departments to mention but a massive THANK YOU to everyone!”
“Not to forget the incredible homemade selfie frames that were the centrepiece of every selfie onboard and brought everyone together for a hashtag or two. Hazel Aquino from our Housekeeping team was the judges’ overall favourite and took the top prize on the night!
We hope you enjoy this small peek into the many Pride themed events onboard as much as we enjoyed taking part.”
