Breaking news! The 13th annual Carnival Corporation Sustainability Report is here!
Titled ‘Sustainable from Ship to Shore’, the report recaps our many accomplishments in 2022 to promote positive climate action, contribute to a circular economy, partner with the communities we sail to and from, and reduce our carbon footprint.
Thanks to your hard work and decisive actions, we made meaningful progress in environmental, social and governance performance across the board, achieving important milestones in decarbonization, food efficiency, single-use plastic reduction, and much more!
Read the full report at carnivalsustainability.com and check out these highlights of what we accomplished together in our six sustainability focus areas:
- CLIMATE ACTION – Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions: We remain the only major cruise operator producing fewer greenhouse gas emissions today than in 2011.
- CIRCULAR ECONOMY – Reducing Volume & Impact of Waste: We reduced our per-passenger food waste by over 30% in 2022 (vs. 2019) and cut single-use plastic by 50+% since 2018.
- SUSTAINABLE TOURISM – Driving Economic & Social Benefit: We worked with the ports in Miami, Galveston, Barcelona, Savona and Genoa to support shore-power “electrification” development efforts to reduce emissions and noise while our ships are in port.
- DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION – Cultivating Diversity & Inclusivity: We were named one of the World’s Top Female-Friendly Companies and World’s Best Employers by Forbes.
- GOOD HEALTH & WELLBEING – Upholding Culture Essentials: We evolved our onboard public health protocols to reflect the changing nature of the pandemic while responsibly protecting our guests and crew members.
- BIODIVERSITY & CONSERVATION – Respecting & Protecting Destinations: We organised nine coastal cleanups to remove waste and debris from the seabed in areas surrounding our ports and communities.
Our success stems directly from our strongest asset – YOU! It’s gratifying to know we can count on our talented and passionate team to dream big, drive progress and continuously improve on the road to reaching our 2030 goals and making our aspirations of carbon neutral operations by 2050 a reality.
We are incredibly proud of the significant progress we have made so far and look forward to continuing partnering with you toward a sustainable future for cruising and tourism.
Thank you for all you do!
