Earlier this week colleagues from P&O Cruises came together for an away day to focus on priorities for 2023.
The day kicked off with P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow welcoming the team and recognising long service, before talking about the focus of the day:
“The last few years have been challenging, but we have an amazing team and what we’ve done together, not least welcoming two brand new Excel class ships to the fleet, is incredible. You’ve all achieved the impossible time and time again, and I know that we’ll continue to go from strength to strength.
As we focus on improving what we have, and restoring the brilliant basics of the P&O Cruises experience, we need to look at our ways of working and guest experience to maximise our return on investment and make sure that every guest leaves our ships feeling happy and telling their friends how wonderful a P&O Cruises holiday is.
With Arvia joining the fleet, we have a huge opportunity to attract new guests. Her naming ceremony in Barbados and godmother (still to be revealed – watch this space!) is a radical change to how we’ve done things before and will certainly get everyone talking. Not to mention the unbeatable value for money that a P&O Cruises holiday offers.”
He talked further about each of the six key priorities for year, before groups split out into breakout ‘market stall’ sessions to find out more about each one.
The sessions were presented by members of the P&O Cruises Senior Leadership Team, who gave colleagues a detailed overview of key initiatives and the opportunity to share ideas and ask questions.
The focus areas included rebuilding brand trust and driving demand, stand out PR and events to reach new audiences, improving our guest experience and NPS scores, driving early occupancy, maximising revenue and controlling our costs, and of course a focus on our people and all the learning and development opportunities available to colleagues ship and shore.

It was then time for a Q&A with Paul, giving colleagues the opportunity to ask whatever was on their minds, before the P&O Cruises EEG (Employee Experience Group) gave an update on ‘you said, we did’ feedback actions and a team activity to help shape ideas to improve how we work together in the year ahead.
This was followed by fun teambuilding activities, with teams competing in an epic battle of speed stacking and juggling priorities! The energy in the room was incredible, as was seeing all the teams working together and listening and learning from one another to achieve the best results. Big congratulations to the winners who won a team lunch courtesy of the company!

Paul then closed the day, reflecting on the strength of the team and opportunities for the year ahead:
“It’s been brilliant being with you all today and coming together to focus on our plans for the year. It’s a new chapter and new goals for P&O Cruises, and we have the very best team in the travel industry to achieve them. Thank you for all that you do.”
