Thanks to everyone who completed our Pulse and Life on board surveys at the start of September. It’s great to see so many of you take this opportunity to Speak Up and share your views this way so we can truly understand how you’re feeling, what it feels like to work at Carnival UK and what we need to do better so we can improve things for everyone.

How we’re doing shoreside

We’re pleased to see that our Carnival UK employee net promoter score (eNPS) for September is 30, which has held steady since our last Pulse survey in April.

Whilst we have seen the eNPS score remain the same there have been some encouraging movements within other areas of the survey feedback, we’ve seen the biggest increase in scores for managers who care about us as individuals, praise good work and encourage two-way communication. It’s not surprising then that the thing we talk about the most is the great people we work with.

How about life on board?

Similar to shoreside, our overall eNPS for the fleet has stayed consistent at 21 since our last surveys in March and June.

As we’ve officially returned to service and continue to welcome new colleagues on board, we’ve seen some differences between the overall results from individual ships and will be looking to understand this in more detail with our ship’s Senior Management Team. The team will be working with colleagues on board to look at the results in more detail and understand what to focus on for each ship.

What happens next?

Since our last survey we know that our shoreside Employee Experience Groups (EEGs) and our ship’s Senior Management Teams (SMT) have been putting actions in place based on your previous feedback.

Throughout October we’ll work with these teams to explore the full set of results from this latest survey and evolve our ongoing action plans to make Carnival UK a better place to work. You’ll hear more on this over the coming months.

More about our survey results

Our eNPS is just one part of the survey and is calculated based on employee’s response to the question: “On a scale from 0-10, how likely are you to recommend Carnival UK as a great place to work to a friend or colleague?”. The percentage of people who score 0-6 (“detractors”) is subtracted from the percentage of people who score 9 or 10 (“promoters”), which produces the score (eNPS).

Our shoreside Pulse survey runs twice a year in September and March, whilst our fleet Life on Board survey run every 3 months to capture our crew’s feedback who may be on different contract lengths.

The full results of the survey and your feedback makes a real difference in helping us to understand your experience of working at Carnival UK. We’ll be sharing more about these results soon, so watch this space!
