Tell us a bit about your role Roopa….
“I’m part of the Deck department and support the Captain and Deputy Captain with various administration duties, including ship’s company personnel tasks. I also support the full Bridge team and Security team. When required, I support the Senior Management Team (SMT) and during turnaround, I support the Crew Office to welcome our new joiners on board.”
How long have your worked for P&O Cruises?
“I have been with P&O Cruises for 13 years in the capacity of Deck Clerk and started with Oriana, the best ship in the fleet as she was my home away from home!
“During my career I have met so many people from different nationalities and found their culture fascinating which I would not have had if I remained and worked in India.
“Though I’m not guest facing, I have met many interesting guests when I’ve helped host Loyalty Lunches. When they travel, they often call the Deputy captain and request that I have coffee with them!
“Also in my capacity as Deck Clerk, I have had the privilege to witness many Weddings-At-Sea and had to celebrate 175 years of P&O Cruises.”
