Whilst we didn’t have any winners from the Corporate Vision Awards in Q4, we did have several nominees who we’d like to recognise and share some highlights from their nominations:

If you want to know more about the awards, how to nominate, then click here – you have until 28 February 2022 to nominate someone for Q1.

Team member of the Quarter
Giuseppe De Luca (Turku)
The person who nominated Giuseppe was extremely complimentary about his welcoming and collaborative nature, they said:

“Great collaboration between site office and technical office to improve our performance in front of the shipyard, speaking in one voice. Awesome working environment in a stressful sea trial time, to work on a perfect system.”

Sounds like you made a great impression on someone Giuseppe, congratulations on being nominated.

Nicola Li Mandri (Mariotti)
Nicola’s nomination came from someone outside of Corporate Shipbuilding and had this to say about him:

“Nicola is one of those guys ‘first to come, last to leave’, steering the project until it is completed, setting the standard above and beyond satisfactory level, providing a delivery with the best quality brand’s personnel may desire.

“You cannot ask for a better teacher and reference point for whatever electrical matter on board. Nicola is going beyond his duties taking up technical discussion and analyzing in depth whatever issue arises.

“As I am from a different Corp division, Nicola made all possible efforts to bring me up to speed and familiarize with yard, contractors and ship building processes and best practices in every electrical field I faced so far. Always available for a discussion he keeps me up to date within the shipbuilding process of the site team.”

Thanks for being a great ambassador for Corporate Shipbuilding Nicola, congratulations on your nomination.

Riccardo di Berardino (Southampton)
Riccardo’s nomination recognises his collaborative approach to working, here’s some highlights:

“Riccardo has developed advance methodologies to serve the cost reduction in ship architectural design and made special point to share this with colleagues and disseminate within all areas of his department.

“Riccardo has shown exemplar behaviours in listening and learning from colleagues, improving our methodologies and communicating the result to others. Not only beneficial to team and culture but huge amount of money has been saved ($m removed from newbuild cost).”

Siru Andersin (Turku) / Alice Toso (Mariotti) / Francesca Clama (Monfalcone)
There was three nominations in one for this quarter. Congratulations to Siru, Alice and Francesca, here’s what your nominator had to say about you all:

“They are always there for everyone and make sure that everyone is all set with PPE to be safe at work. They are the person who will order and make sure that every team member has what they need to succeed.

They are the people behind the scene and sometimes it is time that all of those three deserve a little spotlight.”

Great job ladies and congratulations on your nomination.

Tina James (Southampton)
Tina received her nomination in recognition of how she supported the Project Support Team in a time of need. Here’s what her nominator had to say:

“Tina stepped in and took control and showed team leadership. She also demonstrated her ability to be able to step into any position within our team while we were short staffed. Well done Tina for your huge efforts.

“During times of stress, and adjusting to home environment work loads, Tina took control and show responsibility towards the whole team. Stepped into the different position roles and helped everyone out.”

Congratulations Tina on a fantastic nomination.

Leader of the Quarter
Mel Salmon (Southampton)
Mel received two separate nominations this quarter, both recognising Mel’s approach to communication and openness, here’s what the nominators had to say:

“Mel works in such a calm and measured way with every single Corporate Shipbuilding colleague at the heart of her thinking. I don’t think the majority of people will understand the level of effort and detail that has gone into achieving parity with Christmas vacation and bonus payments, all whilst we’re all working in a space where the Corporation isn’t making money.

“Mel has demonstrated that through her actions of collaborating across multiple levels across our brands, our employing entities and the ELT that positive things can happen. She is a phenomenal communicator and creates a real sense of trust and empowerment.”

Mel’s second nominator had this to say:

“In her role Mel needs to coordinate the needs and desires of the whole team in a balanced way. Everyone cannot have everything the need, but most can have something which is shared by many. She does this with a positive attitude, getting the trust and confidence of others that they are being treated fairly.

“Mel lives up to all 6 CE criteria, every day. With her positive attitude she gets people with her, people trust her, and rely on her doing the right thing.”

Congratulations Mel on not just one but two nominations.

Riccardo Macleod (Mariotti)
Riccardo also received two separate nominations this quarter, both praising him for how he is living and breathing our Culture Essentials every day, here’s what the first nominator had to say:

“He operates with trust and respect for all the members of the team. He’s always open to new suggestions and he’s transparent with us. He really puts his words into actions, he promotes openness, trust and transparency. He encourages us to improve collaboration and he helps us to measure our performance.

“He always listens everyone’s feedbacks and opinions, creating a great working environment even for the newest member of the team.

Riccardo’s second nomination focused on how he encourages everyone to speak up:

“Riccardo is always asking us to speak up, to raise the concerns, giving us the suggestions and the tools, empowering us to success in our job. He is always ready to listen and help us to improve, having a good communication between us and others, the shipyard and all other part involve in the projects.”

A shining example of putting our Culture Essentials into practice every day, great job Riccardo and recognised for it with two nominations!

Tom Gunn (Southampton)
Tom’s nomination comes from the work he did on leading Corporate Shipbuilding’s technical engagement on the mitigation of noise from the roller coaster installed on Mardi Gras and the planned one for Celebration. Here’s what they had to say about the way Tom worked:

“Approaching the problem in a collaborative way engaging with all members of the discussion and listening to their inputs to ensure their expertise is captured.  Gathering of all these opinions and processing them to justify the way forward keeping the team anchored in the reality of the problem and keeping the team’s output efficient.

“Tom has done a good job of focusing the group. Keeping the discussion focused on the reality of the problem and where the most effective solutions should be found.  Providing assurance that modifications to the design for future installations will not be affected by the same problem.”

Congratulations on your nomination Tom!
