We’re delighted to confirm that today, 28 January 2022, at 10:39am (Italian time), Keith Taylor, EVP Holland America Group, accepted delivery of Discovery Princess from Fincantieri in an official handover ceremony at their shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.

The ship is expected to remain in Monfalcone for the new few days before sailing to Los Angeles to start her inaugural season at the end of March.

Talking about the first delivery of 2022 for the Corporation, Bo-Erik Blomqvist, Senior Vice President, Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding said:

“It takes a real team effort from many areas across the Corporation to get a ship from a concept, onto paper and then to reality and delivery. I’m particularly proud of the role that members of Corporate Shipbuilding play at every stage of the process.

This delivery is the seventh and final Royal-class ship to be built for the Corporation and marks the start of another busy year for ship deliveries.”

Tony Roberts, VP, Princess Cruises UK & Europe added:

“We’re delighted to welcome Discovery Princess to the Princess fleet. As our sixth and final Royal-class ship, Discovery Princess brings with her all of the spectacular style and luxury of her sister ships, including 270-degree sweeping views from the largest balconies at sea in the Sky Suites.

As always with a new ship, it has taken an incredible amount of time and effort from the thousands of people involved from both within the Corporation and our many external partners to build Discovery Princess. Thank you for all of your hard work and commitment, we’ll be sure to take good care of her.”
