It’s almost time! Tomorrow Queen Mary 2 returns to service, once again creating unforgettable holiday happiness for our guests. As she prepares for the big day, we’ve been catching up with a few of our colleagues on board to hear their stories.
Say hello to Maria Cortez, Assistant Manager Payroll Services
Hello! My name is Maria, I am from Lisbon the Capital city of Portugal. I have been working at sea for the past 10 years, three of those on board the Queen Mary 2.
I am the Assistant Manager Payroll Services. This is a new role for me and so far it has been an amazing experience. I have worked most of my career at sea with the Customer Services Department, providing our guests with the White Star Service that is expected from all of us. My goal, now that I am working with the HR department, is to provide the same level of service to our hard working crew members.
Any top tips for the new ways of working and protocols on board?
“It is crucial to follow the protocols implemented by the company to keep us all safe. So please wear your masks correctly in public areas, wash your hands frequently and keep social distance whenever possible. If you see someone not following these protocols please remind them, do not be afraid to Speak Up.”
How do you relax and look after your wellbeing after a busy day?
“After a busy day, I prefer to enjoy the company of my closest friends on board and share good experiences. I also maintain a healthy diet and exercise frequently, this helps my general wellbeing.”
And last but not least, the big question… what are you most excited about returning to service?
“I am excited for the opportunity to continue my career progression with Cunard.”
Thanks Maria for sharing your story! We wish you and all our colleagues on board Queen Mary 2 a fantastic season of creating unforgettable holiday happiness for our guests.
