Having taken a lovely week off which has definitely worked wonders for my mental wellbeing, I missed doing a blog for the last week of mental health awareness month. But, I still wanted to come back and complete the series. After all, mental wellbeing is important all year round, not just in mental health awareness month!
So; Take Notice. Why do we need to do it?
We spend so much time stuck in the future or the past (and no I’m not talking about watching Doctor Who!). We are constantly thinking about what is going to happen next – what is the next meeting, the next deadline, the next meal, etc etc. Then at other times we can get stuck ruminating about things that have happened past – that embarrassing moment, regrets, mistakes we think we have made.
This can lead to feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed, and if this feeling continues over days or weeks it can start to impact on mental wellbeing. By taking notice of where we are and what is around us in a purposeful way, we can counteract the effects of our time travelling brains!
