Indian Independence Day, which is celebrated on 15 August every year, marks the day in 1947 that India was declared independent from British colonialism (after 200 years) and control was handed over to the leaders of the country.
It’s a very important day in the Indian calendar as it reminds every Indian about the dawn of a new beginning.
Indian Independence Day is a national holiday in India and celebrated through a priministerial speech, flag raising ceremonies, signing the national anthem, wearing national or local dress and kite flying to represent freedom.
Happy Independence Day to all our colleagues celebrating!
