The global pandemic has presented us all with so many challenges, both from a personal and business point of view. However, with challenge comes opportunity, and with the pause in operations across the whole fleet, our naval architects have had the opportunity to share their knowledge and expertise on structures and stability with the wider Carnival Corporation family.
Over the past few months, as part of the CSmart webinar series, Tom Gunn, Philip Beveridge and Tuur Killaars have delivered two webinars on stability and structures to over 100 colleagues on board, reaching people across all the brands.
The first session was led by Philip and was focused on the impact of longitudinal strength design on operations and the restart of operations, which also gave the opportunity to explain and demystify this part of vessel design (Naval Architecture and Structural Design). The second session was delivered by Tuur and was titled ‘IMO – A history of stability criteria with a focus on the latest rules’.
Talking about their involvement, Tom said:
“We’re always happy to support the great work of CSmart when we can and providing these webinars was a great way for us to share our knowledge on stability and promote the work of Corporate Shipbuilding to many different people across the Corporation.
Zack Zlatev, Lead Stability Instructor for CSMART added:
“On behalf of CSMART, I would like to thank Tom, Philip and Tuur for presenting these significant topics on the CSMART stage. Their expertise facilitates our stability training and supports our corporate officers on board and shoreside. Webinars on stability topics presented by the Corporate Shipbuilding Team are of great importance during those challenging times serving as an aim to enhance safety operations and knowledge.”
