Following the successful delivery of Rotterdam on Friday 30 July 2021, the vessel left Marghera today (Monday 2 August 2021). She will be undergoing owner trials until 5 August and then heading to Trieste until the end of August. Roberto Gonzalez, Project Manager and Building Manager captured some photos and video of her departure, here’s a short compilation:
Rotterdam was delivered at 08:50 (Italian time) on Friday 30 July 2021, with Cyril Tatar, VP New Build for Holland America Group accepting the vessel from Fincantieri in an official handover ceremony in Marghera.
Talking about the delivery, Bo-Erik Blomqvist, Senior Vice President, said:
“This delivery marks the start of our 2021 delivery season, another busy one for us all and still in the midst of all the Covid-19 restrictions in place around the world. As with every ship we deliver for the Corporation, I’m incredibly proud of the commitment and dedication of everyone involved, thank you!
In particular, I would like to take this opportunity to send special thanks to the Marghera site team as this delivery signals the end of a series of ships and the temporary closure of the site office until 2022. Your continued commitment to this final delivery in Marghera, for a short while at least, has been second to none. Please take pride in your achievement and the important part you played.”
With our global fleet gradually returning to operations, we hope it to see Rotterdam and her crew welcoming guests on board later this year.
