As our return to service activities continue we’ve recruited more talent to help us deliver our plans and achieve our business goals.

Over the past month we’ve welcomed 65 new colleagues to Carnival UK and although induction is held over Zoom, the welcome is just as warm as when we were in Carnival House.

We’re asking new colleagues to tell us about themselves, and if they’d like to, share one thing – this can be anything!

Zahra Jivraj

I have previously had 18 years experience with IBM including Accounting Systems, Business Analyst and Project Management. I took three years off as a sabbatical to achieve my personal goals such as achieving my Competent Crew in sailing, refurbishing a house, doing a sponsored swim and fine dining. I’m now thoroughly looking for a new challenge which I’m hoping I will get from Carnival UK. Looking forward to this new journey as it’s exciting and new.

Michaela Cater

My involvement in the cruise industry has granted me the opportunity to travel extensively and work with people from an array of backgrounds, experiences and ages. I worked in a variety of roles before heading on board P&O cruises fleet as a Loyalty and Cruise Sales Manager for three amazing years!

Due to Covid my role on board was impacted, and after a very long wait I’m so happy to say I’m back and have joined the Princess Cruises sales team!

Alicia Letcher

I am currently training to become a Personal Cruise Advisor here at Carnival. I found out about getting this job on the last day of College where I studied Triple Travel and Tourism level 3. I am extremely excited to begin my journey at Carnival UK!

Ben Gaskin

I’ve joined the IT Service Desk. I have worked in IT for two and a half years and worked in Retail Management previous to this.

A random fact about me is that I competed in the National Harmonica Championships while at Secondary School, coming third in the trios selection!

Vanessa Smith

I have a passion for the sea since my early childhood sailing on our boat Sheba in the Solent with all my family.

My first cruise was 18 years ago sailing on Queen Mary 2 and since then I’ve developed a love of cruising. My dream come true would be sailing on a world cruise together with all our family and friends travelling in style.

Charyle Mercer

Over my career I’ve worked in management for many years, working amongst or alongside most departments and different industries health/medical, fitness, sport (including Portsmouth FC), automotive, travel, hospitality, leisure.

As a project, I started the first American football women’s teams along the south coast and play for Great Britain.

Lisa Johnston

I’ve joined the Technology Commercial Management Team as a Senior Analyst.

I previously worked at SSE OVO where I spent the past few years working within IT Contracts Management and Service Assurance.  IT is a new career pathway for me as prior to joining SSE I always worked in finance.

In my free time I enjoy the outdoor life, and with two dogs and a horse, I get plenty of time to enjoy it whatever the weather!

Diana Neverson

I’ve joined Carnival UK as a Personal Cruise Advisor. The two longest jobs I’ve had to date was firstly working in the NHS, then as an Air Cabin Crew member with British Airways for twenty years which given the current situation, I took early retirement/voluntary redundancy in August 2020.

I love making clothes and have in the past made ball gowns. I do cross-stitch creations (which always take time). I love weather watching (I’m sure I was a meteorologist in another life!).

David Stephenson

I’ve worked in IT for over 30 years in various technical and support roles, the last nine years as a Project Manager. I’m looking forward to getting involved in various Carnival projects; there’s a lot going on.

I haven’t worked in the cruise industry before but have been on ten cruises so far, and looking to increasing that count.
