Overall teams:
Crew charter welcome volunteers, People Team
Respect and protect
The team of people that stepped up to support our colleagues arriving on charter flights from India deserve some special recognition.
“At very short notice, these colleagues agreed to spend time in the terminal ensuring that colleagues arriving on the charter flights from India were refreshed and could embark safely and in compliance with the strict COVID-19 protocols that are now in place. This involved stepping out of their comfort zone to perform unfamiliar tasks and working many additional hours. Thank you to all of you – a tremendous effort which made a real difference to our people.”
ARC Project Team, Maritime
Speak up, Improve, Communicate, Listen and Learn
The ARC project team worked tirelessly to successfully launch the ARC tool to the whole business by the deadline.

Faye – For maintaining a positive attitude throughout the project, speaking up when necessary to ensure both ship and shore continued to have what they need to manage through the pause and for the transition into a new way of working for ship and shore. Our individual departmental winners
- People Team: Steven Strange, HR Manager (HRM)
- Speak up, Respect and Protect, Improve, Communicate, Listen and Learn, Empower
“Steven has simply been outstanding in supporting the Performance Management project. His commitment to do the right thing for his colleagues has been invaluable; challenging thinking in workshops, seeking feedback from colleagues onboard to influence design and decision making and understanding the needs of our business so that we can create an environment where people thrive. Thank you Steven for all your hard work and enthusiasm throughout this piece of work, it has been a pleasure working with you!”
- P&O Cruises: Kirsty Everett
- Communicate, Empower, Improve
“Kirsty pulled together all the gift boxes for Iona’s naming ceremony. Kirsty worked with stakeholders and suppliers to deliver lovely gifts to lots of people in a very short space of time! Good job Kirsty!” “Kirsty took on additional work outside of her usual remit to help the Inaugural team for the naming ceremony. Her task was to organise the gift sets that went to every member of staff at Carnival UK as well as the VIP boxes and press gifts. This turned out to be a significant amount of work for Kirsty, but she took it on, separating out the different sets of gifts, organising packing, delivery and onward posting to each individual. Not only that, she leveraged our partners to ensure the best possible cost for everything in the boxes. Kirsty’s main ambition for this box was to make sure that everyone from Carnival UK had a bottle of Marabelle Gin. As a new brand partner she saw a huge importance for colleagues to be the first to taste the gin on board.
- Finance & Legal: Gary Collins, Director, Financial
- Improve, Communicate, Empower
“Gary has led work in the last quarter to bring multiple data solutions to stakeholders. In each case, he has helped users understand their objectives and then helped prototype and develop the solution. These have brought time savings, improved understanding and enabled users to interact with the data in ways they previously couldn’t. He brings a breadth of skills and behaviours, both supporting the technical delivery and guiding the users through the change with patience and care.”
- Cunard: Wynand Jacobs, Digital Campaigns & Merchandising Executive
- Improve, Empower
“Wynand always goes above and beyond to support the wider digital marketing team, he is extremely collaborative and is willing to offer a helping hand to anyone who may need it. He was the first member in the team to put his hand up to support the Cunard Winter 23 launch for the Australian market, this required him to be online at 3am GMT to oversee a smooth launch on the website. As a result, this made for a much better online experience for our Australian guests who, in turn, made a staggering 40 bookings online (2 FWV bookings and 4 Aus Circumnavigations) in the first 3 days.”
- Shared Services, People Operations: Beccie Dunn, Specialist, Rotations
- Communicate, Empower
“Beccie has been persistent, determined and tenacious while tackling an array of manning constraints over the last 12 months. In Q2 she has communicated openly and honestly about the risks and issues associated with manning. At times the tasks have been verging on impossible, but on each occasion she has found solutions, often relying on outside of the box thinking – but more importantly has forged a network of relationships with the fleet – whom she has had to call upon for an array of favours and flexibility. She has been a key factor in the safety and compliance of our operation for a sustained period and recognition is deserved. Looking forwards to return to service, there is an ongoing rap sheet of concerns, that she will no doubt tackle with the same degree of professionalism and grit!”
- Shared Services, Procurement: Casey Caldwell, Senior Buyer
- Respect and Protect, Communicate
“Casey was tasked with helping to renegotiate all of the Food Hero contracts, including approaching a new celebrity chef to become our newest addition to the Local Food Hero line up. Casey drove the conversations, ensured a timely and thorough approach to the agent and ensured we negotiated from the correct start point to get the best deal we could. Always an incredibly important support throughout the conversations, the new Food Hero accepted our proposal, which is an incredibly exciting step for P&O Cruises. “
- Shared Services: Helen Barnes, Expeditor
- Speak up, Respect and Protect, Improve, Communicate
“Helen manages the expediting of all Technical goods orders, which is a huge operation. She handles the responsibility and many conflicting and changing priorities without fuss or complaint. Always going above and beyond. Over the last quarter this complicated role has become ever more demanding due to the logistical challenges of Brexit and ongoing supply disruption caused by COVID-19. She has taken these challenges, thought about the impacts and suggested ways to improve what we do to ensure supply to the fleet is not compromised. In addition, she’s been pivotal in supporting the critical ECP projects; DER2005 and Bio Digesters. She’s not only been involved in meetings and completed ‘her actions’, but she offered to pull together information from different teams to create a tracking document that allows all stakeholders to clearly identify risks and issues, this has allowed the project to remain on track. When you think about collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and cross functional working, Helen has done this brilliantly across these projects. Helen communicates issues, solves problems before they arise, escalates appropriately and always makes getting the orders to the fleet when required her number one priority. As this role is ‘behind the scenes’ the enormity of what she achieves week in, week out goes largely unnoticed.”
Our team departmental winners
- P&O Cruises: Partnership Development - Trade Sales
- Improve, Communicate
“Steve (Taylor) and Laura (Gray) led on a new commercial agreement with Blue Light Card in order to set them up to sell profile 1 cruises across P&O Cruises, Cunard and Princess. This required stakeholder engagement across a wide range of departments, Steve and Laura ensured everyone was kept updated with progress and activity. A new contract was agreed and marketing activity in place. The deal has so far delivered over 700 Guests across profile 1 cruises for all three brands. If it wasn’t for Steve and Laura’s relationship with Blue Light Card and their perseverance to negotiations these Guests would not have been delivered.”
- Cunard: Cunard Revenue Management Team
- Improve
“The whole Cunard Revenue Management team demonstrated incredible team work during the recent 2023 World voyage and Profile 1 launches. Collectively they demonstrated true determination, precision preparation, team effectiveness, guest appreciation and tremendous collaboration from all sides which culminated into what turned out on both launches to be hugely successful. They should be immensely proud and are a true asset to our business.”
- Shared Services: GDPR/Polaris
- Respect and Protect, Improve, Empower
“The team have successfully delivered the removal of generic access accounts on Polaris, which has eliminated a long standing business risk. An engaging and effective communications campaign drove high awareness amongst users and their reporting lines, and as a result, users have been redirected towards supported reporting solutions or now have a named access account. This has been a great team effort, demonstrating the Culture Essentials of Improve, Respect and Protect and Empower. ”
