One of the most significant events on the 2021 Spectrum calendar is on the horizon with our continued partnership and sponsorship of Southampton Pride, currently planned to take place on 28 August in Southampton Guildhall Square.
We’ll share further information on this over the coming weeks and once again we’ll be seeking the support of our incredible Carnival UK Pride Squad volunteers to help during the event and with activities we have planned on the day (all in line with Government guidance at the time of course!) If you’d like to volunteer now, let us know via email here!.
June marks the start of Pride season with International Pride Month; you may have noticed that Cunard and P&O Cruises are showing their support for the LGBTQ+ community with updated logos on their digital pages for the month of June. Carnival House is also proudly flying the Pride flag.
Employee-led networks are for all colleagues
At Carnival UK there are two employee led networks; Spectrum (LGBT+) and Athena (gender balance). 2020 saw the Black Lives Matter movement gather huge momentum and although Carnival UK doesn’t yet have a BAME network, both Spectrum and Athena want to make sure that all colleagues know they are supported and represented by us.
That’s why, to recognise all colleagues and in celebration of Pride Month, we are updating our Spectrum logo!
In 2018 Graphic Designer Daniel Quasar produced a ‘Progressive Pride Flag’ which included additional colours to represent the BAME and Trans communities. The Spectrum logo has now been updated to include the progress colours of the Trans and BAME communities and to represent our BAME and Trans colleagues.
Our new Spectrum logo represents where the LGBT+ community is right now, and where Spectrum will be focusing efforts throughout the remainder of 2021 and into 2022, ensuring all communities are represented and all individuals included.
Happy Pride Season!
