As Britannia prepares to set sail this Sunday, our return to service is now just days away! With this exciting moment fast approaching, we’ve been catching up with some of our colleagues on board to hear their stories and find out what they are most excited about returning to service.
Say hello to Mike Brownhill, Entertainment Host:
Hi, my name is Mike and I am so excited about welcoming our Guests back on board Britannia.
Hi, my name is Mike and I am so excited about welcoming our Guests back on board Britannia. I love what I do as I get to interact with our Guests whilst delivering fun events such as quiz nights, karaoke, game shows and more! I also love the diversity amongst the crew as this gives me the chance to learn a lot about different cultures from around the world.
I am originally from a town called Benoni in Johannesburg, South Africa but now I am based in Leeds in the UK.
I have worked at sea since November 2019, having never stepped foot on a cruise ship before! I had always heard stories about how working on a cruise ship gives you the opportunity to travel the world and I thought that it would be a great opportunity to explore hidden gems and a whole host of countries – all whilst doing what I love!”
How are you finding the new ways of working and protocols on board?
“A lot of things have changed in order for us to accommodate the COVID-19 protocols and although it may seem like a lot, it does soon become second nature.
I am part of a brilliant team who have all worked together to understand and follow the protocols. To fully prepare for our return to service, we’ve run mock events to make sure that our Guests will be aware of the protocols, whilst still ensuring that they have an unforgettable time on board.”
And after a busy day, how do you relax and look after your wellbeing?
“During my down time, I like to pop a movie on or listen to music to relax. I also chat to my friends and family back home or hang out with my fellow crew members.”
Finally Mike, the big question… what are you most excited about returning to service?
I can’t wait to get back to entertaining our Guests once more and upholding the fantastic stature of entertainment that P&O Cruises has become known for. And of course playing my part in helping us to soon become us Britain’s Number 1 Holiday Choice!”
